U.S. District Judge Releases Documents the FBI-seized from Mar-a-Lago · The Floridian

A document outlining the record of FBI-seized property from past President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was publicized by a Florida District Court this week.

The document is said to inventory the contents of 33 boxes worth of official documents, with roughly 100-200 of them allegedly being classified. The subject matter of the documents seized remains opaque, as the record released merely specified their location upon retrieval.

Former President Donald Trump, who has been investigated for over 1-1/2 years since he left office, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. Additionally, according to his team, President Trump had declassified the documents found in his possession while he was in office.

Trump’s legal team has responded by requesting a special master be installed. If granted, the special master would vet the documents being seized by the FBI. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Trump in 2020, will rule on whether the special master will be granted to Trump.

Shortly after Judge Cannon moved to release the documents, house minority leader Kevin McCarthy released a letter notifying Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray of their expected presence before the House Judiciary Committee. McCarthy underscored that Garland and Wray “must provide all communications and documents relating to the raid”.

In the letter, McCarthy criticized the DOJ for “proceeding in a manner that is eroding public trust and confidence”. Rep. Jim Jordan also joined the ranks, as he assured that “It’s time for Merrick Garland and Chris Wray to testify publicly” regarding the ongoing FBI and DOJ inquiries into trump’s post-presidential handling of government documents.
