Trump Responds to NY AG Following $250 Million Lawsuit

Former President Donald Trump blasted New York Attorney General Leticia James following a lawsuit filed Wednesday accusing Trump, his company and three of his children of widespread fraud.

In a statement posted to Truth Social, Trump slammed the lawsuit – filed less than 50 days ahead of the 2022 midterms – as “another witch hunt” which he claims James will use to help her flagging poll numbers as she goes up against GOP candidate Michael Henry in November.

“Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry,” Trump wrote.

“I never thought this case would be brought,” he continued, “until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a ‘get Trump’ platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!”

In another update Wednesday, Trump accused “Letitia ‘Peekaboo’ James” of fighting for the interests of “very powerful and well represented banks and insurance companies,” instead of fighting “murder and violent crime” plaguing New Yorkers.

“She is a failed A.G. whose lack of talent in the fight against crime is causing record numbers of people and companies to flee New York. Bye, bye!” the former president added.

Also responding to the lawsuit Wednesday, Eric Trump posted video of James to Truth Social showing her campaigning on the promise to sue Trump and “bring him down” long before she had any reason to believe he had committed a crime.

The Trump’s critical comments came as the New York Attorney General’s office on Wednesday filed a sweeping $250 million civil suit against him, his Trump Organization, and Ivanka, Don Jr. and Eric Trump alleging they engaged in “long-running bank, tax and insurance fraud that was ‘astounding’ in its scope,” according to NBC New York.

“The suit, which runs to more than 200 pages, alleges that the former president systematically inflated his net worth for purposes of getting better loan terms, while at the same time deflating his worth and the value of his holdings to get more favorable tax treatment,” reports NBC New York.

A Trafalgar/Insider Advantage poll released last week showed Henry would defeat James by a 1.2% margin.

James dropped out of the governor’s race late last year after it became clear disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s unelected successor, Kathy Hochul, would secure the Democrat nomination.
